Ya Hu XXI: Dances of Universal Peace Gathering

Camp Allen in Navasota, Texas
THIS GATHERING for both new and experienced dancers will be facilitated by dance leaders from Texas and the South Central U.S. The Ya Hu gathering is designed to bring area dancers together in order to make and deepen community connections. Our weekend at beautiful Camp Allen in Navasota will include opportunities to experience Dances of Universal Peace, walking practices, zikr, and deeper dance cycles, as offered by our regional dance leaders. On Sunday morning we will participate in some form of a Service of Universal Worship.
Thursday, March 21 –Registration will begin at 5:00 pm. Snacks will be available. No formal session this evening – arrive at your leisure to get settled in and hang out.
Friday, March 22 –Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Meals will be shared as a group.
Saturday, March 23-Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Meals will be shared as a group.
Sunday, March 24 –Morning Universal Worship
Please plan to arrive between 5:00 & 9:00 pm Thursday evening.
On Sunday, we will check out of the cabins by noon.
Camp Allen Conference and Retreat Center is the birthplace of our Texas Ya Hu Dance gatherings. Located in Navasota, Texas, Camp Allen provides easy access from the major cities. We will Dance in a room at the main Conference Center. Sleeping and meals will be in three 3-bedroom lakeside cabins that will comfortably accommodate about 30 participants. Sleeping quarters include double and bunk beds. Each cabin offers a fully supplied kitchen, two bathrooms and a living room with a fireplace. Registration: Fee is $140 per person, and includes dance and walk sessions, meals, and lodging. Housing is shared; no private rooms. Bed linens and towels are provided, but you might want to bring your own pillow, or a favorite blanket. Join Sky Safir Roshay, Douglas Stevenson, Bernie Skydrummer and other leaders and musicians for a weekend of Dances of Universal Peace, poetry, potlucks, music and community!
Earthsprings Retreat Center is on 70 acres of wooded land in the edge of Davy Crockett National Forest, about half way between Houston and Dallas, Shreveport and Austin. The nearest airports are either DFW or Houston, both about two to two and a half hours away.
Dancing will be in the Tent we use for our 4 Corners area retreats. Dorm style bed space at the retreat center is available for about 25 people, first come first served, in the bunkhouse and main house. Unlimited camping space is available, with bathroom/shower access. (See Earthsprings.net details.) The Medicine Lodge will be available for meditation, jam sessions, and other activities; and hiking, canoeing, and other outdoor activities are possible. There is an outdoor kitchen with picnic tables. Dinners are potlucks, other meals are on your own.

Directions: GPS will get you to Crockett, but don’t follow it the rest of the way, as it can get befuddled as it gets deep into the forest. Glenda will provide exact directions as we get closer to the date.
